Драконова кровь — твёрдая красная смола, без вкуса и запаха, растворима в спирте, сернистом углероде, хлороформе, нефтяных маслах, почти нерастворима в эфире и скипидаре. Ост-индская драконова кровь добывается с поверхности плодов пальмы Daemonorops draco [syn. Calamus draco]; вест-индская драконова кровь — из надрезов коры Dracaena cinnabari (драцена киноварно-красная, ранее известная как Pterocarpus draco). Драконова кровь употребляется для лаков, для окрашивания и полировки дерева и мрамора.
